Ted Turner's Next Prophecy: Food Riots 'Going to be More Commonplace' !

www.businessandmedia.org

After forecasting cannibalism from global warming, media mogul-turned-U.N. Foundation chairman appears on CNBC and ties 'global climate change' to 'an ever-increasing population.'

Ted Turner was interviewed by CNBC’s Bob Pisani on the April 25 “Closing Bell.” He addressed the recent food shortages causing rationing and riots all over the globe and said it’s just a sign of things to come.

Is there anyone who takes this nut seriously? He like some self proclaimed modern day Nostradamus. And I thought Jim Jones was a wack job.

Well, I have to be grateful for Mr. Turner's comment on at least one level. Now that he has spoken these words I can consider the 'food riots' issue to be completely man-made and driven by corporate greed (as usual). This 'spokesmen' of the power-hungry corporate interests has never yet contributed to the the human condition outside his own self-serving interests. If he has seen fit to 'enter the public debate' on this topic; it can only be to further the opportunities of the speculators and help propagate the deception to those still naive enough to look to him as some kind of 'nice guy.'

Hi, I might place this in all the ongoing threads about foodshortages as it is why I took a minute to jump on this am, (that and avoiding the gardens)

From The Wallstreet Journal:
finance.yahoo.com...

don't want to alarm anybody, but maybe it's time for Americans to start stockpiling food.

don't want to alarm anybody, but maybe it's time for Americans to start stockpiling food.

No, this is not a drill.

You've seen the TV footage of food riots in parts of the developing world. Yes, they're a long way away from the U.S. But most foodstuffs operate in a global market. When the cost of wheat soars in Asia, it will do the same here.

Reality: Food prices are already rising here much faster than the returns you are likely to get from keeping your money in a bank or money-market fund. And there are very good reasons to believe prices on the shelves are about to start rising a lot faster.

"Load up the pantry," says Manu Daftary, one of Wall Street's top investors and the manager of the Quaker Strategic Growth mutual fund. "I think prices are going higher. People are too complacent. They think it isn't going to happen here. But I don't know how the food companies can absorb higher costs." (Full disclosure: I am an investor in Quaker Strategic)[ex/]

The way corporate greedy America works and the global markets, the pushing for alternative oil and the way that a buck is made at the back and at the expenses of humanity I say this all been manipulated to create mass hysteria for nothing more than boost commodities prices.

Its not that food is not available but that food as grains are more profitable for biofuels that feeding the poor and the food available is too expensive for the poor.

Countries in Asia and China are finding that big corporate America pay better if they produce crops for anything but food consumption.

Now this food shortage hype is very conviniently been pushed as Americans are to get their stimulus check.

Many polls has shown that Americans are concern with the economy, they want to save and pay bills than spending.

But that is not What our government wants they want you to spend, spend and spend that is the patriotic thing to do.

So what is happening, now the propaganda and scaremongering of a shortage of food is been advertised for the consumption of the American people,” food security is at risk”.

But at the same time ”inflation” is hitting us also with higher oil prices.

But does anybody see any big Corporate oil companies doing anything to alleviate the consumers in this nation?

No, because that is not the agenda the agenda is for you to stockpile and spend the money you will be getting with the government deceiving hands out and to spend what you don’t have, because food security is as stake.

But behind your back and every Americans back profits are been speculated and profits are made.

DG, I have been following the markets of almost a year, the agenda and the corruption after the housing crash is so overwhelming that is not funny.

Everything that is happening around the world you can trace to the US and the corrupted money makers.

This is nothing but an agenda, I have no problem with my groceries and I have seen not shortage of anything yet.

But plant a littler seed of "food security scares" and people will flood to stockpiling and then you will have a real shortage and riots.

Marge you put in words what I did not have time to write in my earlier post. You are right, however to sit idle and do nothing is a fools errand.

If you stock up today, you will be able to hedge your immediate monies into your everyday commodities. In 6 months from now when all of the usual products that you buy are 2-3 dollars more per item you will be glad that you did a little stocking up.

It is not a long term soloution, but it will give people a little cushion until they can figure out what they need to do next. I do not believe this is a drill.

It really does not matter to your hungry children or grandparents 'why' they are having to suffer. They will not care if it is because the worlds rice, grain and corn surplus is moving into bio fuels.

We do not have to buy into the mass panic of food shortage lie, but we can also take steps as we have been to protect ourselves from the welfare rolls in the coming future.

Well I have not problem with people that wants to stockpile for a rainy day that is the personal choice of any individual.

Many people that live in natural disasters zones are used to stockpiling.

But how much grain and cereal can you stockpile without going bad.

Unusually canned goods are the ones that last he longer.

I have an extra can of tropical cocktail and a couple foil packages of pop tarts. I will not survive in the coming war. I will be selected out, just the way turfgrass grows.

I have posted before about the types of grains we are being sold, that they seem to be arriving filled with weevils. You can stock pile in the tightest of containers and in a few months when you open them, there are the little flying insects. I do not know how long the food we are being sent will last, that is another consideration.

The general concensus is that if you stockpile enough for about one year that will help get you started. Take a look at the Mormon churches website that tells you what to store and how much for your family size. It is a good informative site.

Awesome - as usual
star for you!

How can we compel people to 'do the math'? Will the press have no choice but to report the reality that corporate greed and profiteering reign supreme? There is no disincentive to profit from hunger and suffering? That our designated 'protectors' will not stop them because it is THEY and their masters who are the beneficiaries of the manipulation?
